Most Korean language schools dedicate a week to teaching hangeul. And no wonder, given how critical an accurate understanding of hangeul is to one's future study of Korean. In the knowledge of hangeul's importance, teachers both in Korea and overseas have made inquiries about the hangeul pedagogy employed at Sogang University's Korean Language Education Center (KLEC). Such interest inspired us to publish a book detailing our actual hangeul teaching methods as part of the revised third edition of Sogang Korean 1A & 1B.

This textbook includes short videos modeling the pronunciation of Korean letters based on actual hangeul lessons at the KLEC so that students can keep working on their pronunciation outside of the classroom.
Sogang Korean Hangeul is organized as follows for the benefit of both teachers and learners.
1. The hangeul consonants are presented in steps based on their difficulty for learners.
2. The consonants are presented in different colors to make them easier to distinguish. The plain, aspirated, and tense consonants from the same place of articulation are depicted in the same color so that learners can remember their relationship.
3. Hangeul learning is facilitated by various classroom activities including speaking, reading, listening, and games.
4. This book includes not only detailed explanations of classroom activities but also letter cards and game materials that can be put to immediate use.
5. Short videos about pronouncing Korean letters are made available through QR codes for ongoing practice and self-study.
